The tax industry is a recession proof industry and the earning potential is unlimited. 90% of taxpayers seek to hire a tax professional. Taxes are not going anywhere, therefore, taxpayers will always have to file taxes. The average tax return preparation fee is $300. Some first year tax preparation business owners earn $10,000 to $100,000 during peak tax season (4 months). You are urged to prepare taxes year round to continue to generate income for taxpayers that may file their taxes late or file previous year back taxes. Some earn much more! Many factors contribute to the success of your business, the main factor is YOU!

You do not need any certification(s) to prepare taxes. It is actually against the law to say or print that you are a CERTIFIED tax preparer. In the course, you will receive tax preparation training for individual and basic business returns as well as web-based software training. It is required that PAID tax professionals obtain a Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) through the IRS. You must obtain a PTIN to prepare federal tax returns for compensation. The process only takes about 15 minutes and the number is $36 and must be renewed annually. Detailed instructions and assistance with this application process is included in the course. As a business owner you must also have an active Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN) to electronically file taxes. During training, we will walk you through the proper steps to obtain this FREE number that is obtained from the Internal Revenue Service.

No, you do not need a storefront location to prepare taxes. We offer innovative and convenient solutions for taxpayers to submit their tax documents and sign their tax returns virtually. Which means you can work from home, have a mobile tax preparation business or have an office location. All you need is a laptop, printer and internet access. If you operate your business from home, you can write those expenses off on your taxes (you will learn how to do this in the course)!

There are no upfront tax preparation fees for clients that are receiving a federal refund. With your tax software and bank products, your tax preparation fees will be automatically deducted from the taxpayer's federal refund and deposited directly into your business bank account; this is called a Refund Transfer (RT). Some taxpayer's that are receiving a federal refund may also pay an upfront tax preparation fee with a check, debit card or credit card. If your client has to pay taxes, you must collect your tax preparation fees upfront and you will have access to a secure merchant to send invoices and collect those fees.

After electronically submitting your client’s tax return, the IRS typically takes up to 21 days to process the return. Taxpayers can track their refund through the Where’s My Refund tool on the IRS website. Once the return is Acknowledged/Accepted, it’s in the hands of the IRS; the taxpayer and tax professional must be patient. The tax preparer gets their tax preparation fees and the client receives their refund on the same day. During the pandemic, the 21-day processing time could be longer.
